The following is copied from the 1838 Ashe Co., NC estate file of George Reeves, Jr.
I Caleb Osborn make the oath that I am acquainted with the Lands wished to be sold by the heirs of Geo Reeves decd mentioned in the petition of the heirs of George Reeves, dec’d [?]t the petition of A. B. McMillian & others and he believes that the said Lands from their relation situation & their probable value that the said Lands cannot be partitioned among the said heirs or partitioners [sic] with out prejudice to their portions in sd. Lands – and that their interest will be promoted by a sale of the sd. Lands

Richd Gentry maketh oath that he is acquainted with the main part of the Land mentioned in the petition of the heirs of Geo Reeves decd to wit A B McMilion & others & he believes that a partition of the sd. Lands among the partitioners [sic] would be prejidicial [sic] to the interest of the sd. petitioners in sd. Land and that their interest would be best pros[ecuted?] by a sale thereupon.
